This course is for…

… anyone who is interested in using measurements and models to capture the environmental impact of their software.

You do not need any prior experience with SCI, carbon accounting or software carbon measurements to take this course.

You will need to use a command line - nothing fancy, just opening a console and enter commands.

You will…

Understand:

• the rationale for software carbon measurements
• the rationale for the SCI score, and its potential limitations
• the process of gathering observations, turning them into SCI scores, and aggregating across time and components

Write:

• an IMP with multiple plugins per pipeline and multiple components

Gather:

• measurements for a real system and choose a sensible model pipeline to transform them

Load:

• an IMP into the IF visualizer and inspect an IMP file visually
